Composite poles
- Consistency , Quality , Clean
- Wooden poles take 10-15 years to grow, whereas composites can be made in 3-4 hours
- Strength comparable to wood.
Lengths Available:
8m 160/180mm

Poles are custom made. Strengths , lengths and sizes can be made to equal or surpass wood
Strengths by increasing the wall thickness.
Bend tests reveal that composites can be made to equal strength as wood. The 200/180mm 9m, had a 750mm deflection at 7,5m without snapping.
Strength of Composites
Strength – comparable to wood. The 200mm diameter timber equivalent LLT Composite pole has a 2 ton lateral strength at 1.2m height above ground. This equates to a 200kg lateral strength at 7.5m above ground. This force will result in 750mm deflection at tip of pole without failure.
Different sizes Available strengths equal to 250/180mm, 200/180mm and 180/160mm diameter timber poles.
Difficulties using Wooden poles
- Use of Creosote can be harmful for environment and soil.
- Units are heavy to transport
- Quality of each pole not the same. ( Bending and differs from unit – unit)
- Takes long to load and difficult.
- Long outage times for client , for maintenance.
- Unit deteriorate in storage
Difficulties storing wooden poles
Disadvantages :
- Cracks can appear, making way for termites.
- Quality can deteriorate in storage.
- Cracks occur in the wood over time
- Units not all treated the same.
- Inconsistency in quality
- Cracks appear
Difficulties handling wooden poles
Disadvantages :
- Wooden poles are heavy ( +150kg or more) And will require cranes to load onto the van.
- Time consuming.
- Difficult to handle.
Difficulties working with wooden poles
Disadvantages :
- Poles need treatment.
- Creosote/Tar can be is messy.
- Burns the skin.
- Makes the operator dirty.
- Tar melts in the sun.
Difficulties in the installation
Disadvantages :
- Termites can make channels inside a wooden
pole. - Lifespan of pole reduced significantly.
- Pole can snap.
